Summer (May–Sep) S/SW swell coast from Ma'alaea around through Kihei, Wailea and Makena. NE trades blow offshore here making the South Shore the cleanest coast in summer. The Cove at Kalama Park is Kihei's main learner spot; Ma'alaea is the world-class but rarely-breaking right point at the north end; Big Beach Makena is a heavy shorebreak.
