East Side / Hana

Maui's remote eastern coast around Hana. Exposed to NE trade swell year-round but almost always onshore-blown; surfed mainly by locals on rare light-wind windows. Hana Bay offers a protected inside reef on the right pulse; Hamoa Beach south of town picks up cleaner swell when the trades back off.
