Islands

Japan's offshore island surf — currently anchored by Tanegashima, the subtropical Kyushu island ~115km south of Kagoshima. The Islands region groups Japan's outer-island surf zones (Tanegashima and future Yakushima / Amami / Hachijo / Sado additions) so they stay separated from the mainland prefectural set. Most Islands spots run 4-6 °C warmer than mainland Honshu year-round.
