Grand Strand

100km arc of pier-dominated beach breaks from Cherry Grove at the NC border south through North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach, Surfside, Garden City and Pawleys Island. Surf revolves around the wood piers — Cherry Grove, Apache, 2nd Avenue, Springmaid, Surfside and Garden City — all of which create rideable peaks on Nor'easter wind swell through winter and Atlantic hurricanes in fall. Pawleys Island Pier and Litchfield Beach at the south end offer mellower longboard reform between bigger pulses. Small and onshore-blown the rest of the year.
